A very generous donation of $ 100,000 given to the friends of Morrow Mountain State Park by Tom Rabe last year and will be used to fund renovation of the observation deck at the Picnic Shelter at the top of the mountain.
Unfortunately Mr Rabe passed away in August this past year before work began on the deck.
Mr. Rabe agreed to the proposed project. A plaque honoring him will be erected at the site.. We are in negotiations with a contractor for the work. A groundbreaking ceremony will be announced.
The project will consist of several phases: Excavation of the existing deck; Rebuilding of the deck; and Erection of a stone wall along the pathway to the shelter Materials for the decking are being donated by Fiberon. Rock work will be done by Rocky Parker, who rebuilt the walls at the park entrance several years ago.
